BeltLandia Weekender: September 30th – October 2nd, 2016

The chill in the air we have been waiting for has finally arrived. Let us all welcome Fall with open arms! I cannot think of any better weather to enjoy a Braves game in – especially the last few games at The Ted. If I were you, I would also make some time for the Porches and Pies Festival. Honestly, they might be the most revolutionary combo since peanut butter and jelly.   P.S. I hear they are giving out Chipper Jones jerseys at the Braves game tonight!  Cheers, my … [Read more...]

Give the Atlanta Streetcar Wings

I’ve been for streetcars on the BeltLine from the get-go, but only because they will run in dedicated guideways. Remove them from that context and run them through our city streets and they’re just another bus stuck in traffic. That a number of the planned 50 miles of streetcar lines will be integrated into already crowded city streets prompts this, my third post in an “upgrade the streetcar” theme. In my last post on the subject, I proposed some upgrades to the hundred-year-old technology … [Read more...]

BeltLandia Weekender: September 23rd – 25th, 2016

Happy Fall, y'all! Tis the season for fall festivals, flannel, pumpkin spice and everything nice. While the cooler weather is being shy down south, we still have the chance to bask in the last few summer sunsets at a  reasonable hour. Unfortunately, the event list this weekend seems to be lacking in size, but do not doubt its grandeur in quality. If you ask me, all you really need from a weekend is a Beltline Wine Stroll during the first weekend of autumn.  Cheers, my … [Read more...]

Happy Friday and an even happier Guacamole Day! Hopefully, all of you celebrated Queso Day at Moes on Thursday so it is only natural to go for round two today and treat yourself to some guacamole goodness with your best amigos. With this the weekend of Music Midtown, it's a bit of an understatement to say the weekend will be full of live music. We can also cue the beginning of fall festival season in the peach state. We just have to patiently wait on the weather to get the hint. I hear … [Read more...]

BeltLandia Weekender: September 9th – 11th, 2016

Finally the weekend has arrived to recover from Labor Day Weekend. This week could not have felt any longer to have been a short week. Thankfully we can kick back, enjoy some college football games and ease into the simplicity of fall. Of course the weather will not warrant big comfy sweaters just yet, but tailgates and pumpkin spice lattes are on their way!  Take the opportunity to relax this weekend with a few of our hand-picked events. Enjoy! Friday, … [Read more...]

Craft Cold Brew at Chrome Yellow

It was a lovely overcast Saturday in Atlanta, punctuating what I would say was the nicest week we’ve had this summer. When it’s 75 outside, it makes it really easy to leave the house on a whim, so I moseyed on over Chrome Yellow Trading Co. for my morning cup. If you couldn’t tell by now, I really enjoy getting to places right when they open because it’s not terribly crowded and I can feel a lot more present in my day. So the parking lot was bereft of cars, as was the coffee shop. Just me, two … [Read more...]

BeltLandia Weekender: September 2nd – 5th, 2016

If you plan to stay in town for the holiday weekend, go ahead and start mentally preparing yourself for the abundance of traffic that will soon hit the Big Peach. The city will practically be bursting at the seams with the anticipated 500,000 visitors. Our suggestion: take MARTA whenever possible.  While walking around downtown don't be alarmed if you feel like you've wandered into another galaxy or on the set of Star Trek – DragonCon goers and fanatics will soon invade the city -- as they have … [Read more...]
