Located in the Midtown Promenade on the corner of Monroe and Virginia and just steps away from the Beltline is MetroFresh, one of the corridor’s most unique restaurants. MetroFresh was founded in the fall of 2005 with the notion that fresh, healthy, creative food is not out of reach for the casual diner. MetroFresh is “Fresh Food, Fast,” specializing in prepared gourmet soups, salads, side dishes, sandwiches, dinner entrees and light healthy breakfast. They use the freshest in-season ingredients, locally grown when possible, to create unusual, globally-inspired flavor combinations for a menu that changes every single day.
Here’s what owner Mitchell Anderson says about his place:
When you visit MetroFresh, we want you to find an urban oasis – a peaceful, friendly atmosphere where you feel at home. While your palate is challenged by the diversity and freshness of the food, your body, mind and spirit is fed and comforted by the world we create in the café. We are ever mindful that you come for the food, but return for the experience. Often, we hope!
Thank you, Mr. Anderson (not said in a creepy Agent Smith voice).
In February of 2013, they completely remodeled and expanded the restaurant, doubling the seating capacity and adding a wine and cappuccino bar. The covered patio features a 14 seat, bar height communal table – perfect for large parties to enjoy together, or to share with fellow diners who will soon be your new best friends.
If you’re out for an early morning walk, stop by and enjoy Smoked Gouda Grits with Eggs, Warm Maple Berry Quinoa Cereal, or our Healthy Start – egg white scramble with sautéed spinach and whole grain toast. Or if you’re riding your bike in the afternoon, come in and get Thai Coconut Chicken or Beef Lasagna Soup, Chopped Kale Salad and a freshly made hot pressed sandwich. After 5:30 choose a dinner entrée like Wine Braised Short Ribs over Parmesan Risotto, Seared Mahi Mahi with Pineapple Salsa and Grilled Asparagus, or Stuffed Roasted Portobello Mushrooms with House Made Marinara.
Many of the menu items are vegan/vegetarian, gluten free, and palio-friendly. There is most often something for everyone’s taste and dietary needs.
