BeltLandia Weekender, May 27th – 29th

Friday at last, Friday at last – Thank goodness it is Friday at last! In case you forgot, this is a very special Friday as it kicks off Memorial Day weekend. If I might lend a suggestion this week, I have picked out my favorite ITP soirees: Friday, start your weekend with the Decatur Arts Festival. Saturday, sleep in (you've earned this). Have a smooth, easy start to your day with the Atlanta Jazz Festival (check this out) followed by Brew at the Zoo. Sunday, SLEEP IN (I promise, you're … [Read more...]

BeltLandia Weekender, May 20th – 22nd

Greetings fellow BeltLandians! Out with the Shaky Knees and in with the Shaky Beats – fair warning, you can probably expect the streets to be jammed with Uber and Lyft carpools galore (again) this weekend. If music festivals aren’t quite your cup of tea, surely the three Bs are – Beer, bourbon and barbecue, of course! Scoot on over to Atlantic Station for some good eats and libations on Saturday. For a hot time in the city, you definitely want to make time this Saturday for Old Fourth … [Read more...]

Putting the Market in Ponce City Market

Tuesdays just got more exciting, y’all! May 3rd heralded the opening of the new Ponce City Farmers' Market held under “The Shed” right on the BeltLine. I went a little later in the evening and it had definitely drawn a crowd. I try to do a once-over with all booths at farmers’ markets when I first get there to see what everyone has available and to get more bang for my buck. I usually just bring a fresh Jackson (or Tubman, if you’re from the future) with me and I like to stretch it, but I also … [Read more...]

Habitats for HIPsters

While Beltlandia is certainly attracting a healthy share of the classic hipster population to it’s environs, I refer in this post to those who qualify for Atlanta BeltLine’s new Housing Initiative Program [HIP]. Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta (FHLBank Atlanta) and Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. (ABI) today announced the reopening of HIP with a new round of grant goodness. HIP has up to $3 million in financial assistance for the purchase of new homes or the rehabilitation of existing homes along … [Read more...]

BeltLandia Weekender, May 13th – 15th

Howdy there and happy *almost* Friday! We’re hoping you won’t come down with a case of paraskevidekatriaphobia. Ya know, the fear of Friday the 13th. Instead of observing this anti-holiday, we suggest taking a page from our book by celebrating International Hummus Day. For the love of pita bread, just say no to paraskevidekatriaphobia. This weekend’s activities are significantly lighter than last; however, you can never go wrong with a stroll around the BeltLine followed by mid-afternoon … [Read more...]

Pourovers with a Punch at Condesa Coffee

My sister and I have been meeting for weekly constitutionals on the BeltLine lately and we stopped at Condesa Coffee on our most recent excursion. Since she lives in the suburbs and is hoping to attend Tech in the next couple of years, she is keen to find study-worthy coffee shops for when she finally takes the big step towards an engineering degree. We started on the Eastside trail and made our way via the Freedom Parkway trail to Condesa. It took a little longer than expected since we got a … [Read more...]

BeltLandia Weekender, May 6th – 8th

Is it just us, or did this week last longer than normal? We hope you take advantage of celebrating Cinco de Mayo in full force but be sure to reserve some energy for this jam-packed weekend extravaganza we have lined up for you. Between the festivals, art shows and concerts, there is sure to be an event out there for everyone to enjoy. This is the final weekend for Cirque du Soleil’s visit to the Big Peach – if you’ve somehow missed the giant yellow and blue tent sitting by Atlantic … [Read more...]
