Howl-o-ween 2014 Pet Parade Benefits Freedom Barkway

Black cats have been hogging the spotlight on Halloween for long enough. Every dog has it’s day and that day is Saturday, October 25th. All dogs are invited to dress up in their most fabulous swag for the Howl-o-ween Pet Parade. They should have their owners dress up too and bring them along to where Highland Avenue crosses over the BeltLine at Alaska. The parade will begin at noon. It’ll be the most spectacular pack ever seen in these parts as the parade moves west on Highland Avenue to the festival area where Highland Avenue crosses over Freedom Parkway.

Entry fee is $10 per pup with one person allowed to tag along. A $5 donation gains entrance to the festival + one free drink.

Awards and prizes will be given for best costumes (two- and four-legged mammals), best group, floats, etc.

After the parade stay for the Festival featuring:

  • Five Live Bands!
  • Beer!
  • Festivities!

Parade donations will benefit the Freedom Barkway, a premiere off-leash Dog Park planned for an under-utilized 2 acre parcel of the Freedom Parkway greenway. The park will benefit all dogs and their owners of the Historic Fourth Ward and other adjoining neighborhoods with connection to the Freedom Parkway Trail system and the BeltLine Eastside Trail.

A .25 acre fenced section will be provided for small dogs and a .8 acre section for big dogs to run free with splash pads at a central area.

We hope to see you and your best friend at the pet parade on Saturday, Oct. 25th and at the park in the near future!
