A couple of weeks ago, February didn’t get the memo about being cold and left March to pick up the slack. Ringing in Soup Season 2.0, I decided to step out of my kitchen in search of something hot, savory, and familiar-- RAMEN. Not the ramens of yore once picked up at Kroger and eaten while crying into styrofoam 3 minutes later in your dorm room. I searched for genuinely crafted, immortalized in Japanese culture ramen. A trip to Buford Highway was too long for me to wait out hangry feelings, so … [Read more...]
The Scoop on A Mano: A New Restaurant for Old 4th Ward
There’s a new restaurant coming to BeltLandia! Midtown resident George Demeglio is currently building a mano, an intimate eatery serving traditional Italian inspired dishes with locally sourced ingredients. Burke and I were lucky enough to grab lunch with him not too long ago to interview him and get the scoop on his new project! *************************** You had never been in the restaurant business before, right? I’m an engineer. I’ve been in manufacturing, telecommunications, … [Read more...]

Happy Autumn, Beltlandia! As the weather improves drastically from the endless heat of summer, my leisurely sojourns through the city have experienced an uptick. And what better way to celebrate Fall than to try out Cafe + Velo, Atlanta’s latest coffee shop off Edgewood Avenue! Cafe + Velo is geared towards cycle enthusiasts, a refreshingly new focus for Atlanta coffeehouses. A bike rack sits just outside the cafe, ready to accommodate about ten bikes comfortably. I mostly travel by car or … [Read more...]

Craft Cold Brew at Chrome Yellow
It was a lovely overcast Saturday in Atlanta, punctuating what I would say was the nicest week we’ve had this summer. When it’s 75 outside, it makes it really easy to leave the house on a whim, so I moseyed on over Chrome Yellow Trading Co. for my morning cup. If you couldn’t tell by now, I really enjoy getting to places right when they open because it’s not terribly crowded and I can feel a lot more present in my day. So the parking lot was bereft of cars, as was the coffee shop. Just me, two … [Read more...]
BeltLandia Weekender: September 2nd – 5th, 2016
If you plan to stay in town for the holiday weekend, go ahead and start mentally preparing yourself for the abundance of traffic that will soon hit the Big Peach. The city will practically be bursting at the seams with the anticipated 500,000 visitors. Our suggestion: take MARTA whenever possible. While walking around downtown don't be alarmed if you feel like you've wandered into another galaxy or on the set of Star Trek – DragonCon goers and fanatics will soon invade the city -- as they have … [Read more...]
BeltLandia Weekender: August 26th – 28th, 2016
Happy Friday and Happy DOG DAY! As if the day couldn't get any better, it just so happens to be dedicated to celebrating canines. If you have a furry friend of your own, you should make your way over to Historic Fourth Ward Park for an event with a live DJ. You will even be tempted to find a playmate for Fido during the pet adoption. After all, there's only one thing better than having a dog, and that's having two dogs! If this weekend's Pokemon Go Scavenger Hunt is your kind of thing, don't … [Read more...]
Signature Sips, Snacks, and Service at Spiller Park Coffee
Spiller Park is one of the newest coffee shops to hit Atlanta. Pitched as a “major league coffee shop,” it started out as a little pop-up shop selling coffee and donuts in the morning. In October of last year, they opened their permanent location smack in the heart of the hustle and bustle of Ponce City Market, just down the spiraling staircase to the BeltLine. The gentleman behind the counter suggested I try a piccolo, an espresso based drink similar to a cortado. Since developing a recent … [Read more...]
BeltLandia Weekender: June 24th – 26th, 2016
Greetings, BeltLandians! The weekend is upon us and, as usual, there's plenty to do along Atlanta's Yellow Brick Road and it's environs. With the official start of summer this week, it is time to grin and bear the Georgia heat for the next few months. As we know, the humidity can be wicked this time of year; however, this should not keep us from soaking up some of the Braves' final games at the Ted before the team’s stadium is officially OTP. If you’re looking for some events this summer … [Read more...]
