Shopping on the BeltLine

By now, most folks would agree that shopping small and local is the preferable thing to do. Our goal here at BeltLandia is to help your bucks stay in the loop, locally. This section will promote the best products, services, deals, discounts -- and the businesses that deliver them -- to be found along the BeltLine.

Krog Street Market and Ponce City Market have dramatically expanded the roster of what is already a robust offering of businesses, restaurants and shops.

The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership has introduced the Atlanta BeltLine Discount Card which rewards BeltLandians for their local purchases. And we plan to offer those who put their money on the Line exclusive specials, discounts and promotions, so be sure to sign up for BeltLandia Free Updates.

Specialty Clothing Shop Offers Commuter Cycling Swag

The Spindle rose from a passion for cycling from brothers Sharif and Ezz-Eldin Hassan.  In late 2012, after many rides and blown out jeans, they feverishly sought out cycling gear made for the everyday rider.  They really had to dig, though. In a world filled with kits, clunky shoes, and spandex, finding companies that specialize in the commuter side of the biking world was going to take some effort.  Sure, companies like Chrome had already made a name for themselves by offering messenger style … [Read more...]

ATL Snow Jam ’14: Another Case For Walkable Intown Living

As I walked to my meeting at Condesa Coffee, I noticed that the accumulating snow was starting to get slippery. Not a big surprise, I thought, as the temperature was dropping fast. Less than an hour into my meeting the Barista said that they were closing early, due to worsening travel conditions. That’s when I noticed the stalled traffic on Boulevard, waiting to get on the 75/85 Downtown Connector. As it turned out, many of those drivers would have been better off not using the Interstate … [Read more...]

Atlanta BeltLine Bicycle Shop

Location, location, location – we’ve all heard that joke and Atlanta Beltline Bicycle Shop (ABBS) is LOL. Every day the Eastside Trail of the Beltline is heavily used by active urbanites. Some of these urban travelers are bringing bicycling back to the ATL. In the late 19th century there were more bike shops on Peachtree Road than banks. Bike races at the velodrome were bigger than baseball with the Atlanta Crackers, and ladies and gents rode their bicycles out to picnics and parties. Today … [Read more...]

Happy Trails to Trader Joe’s Midtown

Three years ago we were in a pickle. By Thanksgiving we had relocated to the Old Fourth Ward, but my real estate business had virtually flat lined due to the financial aftershocks of 2008. Then we decided that my wife couldn’t continue her employment in a toxic work environment at a southside nursing home. She … [Read more...]

Krog Street Market Opens Spring 2014

Krog Street Market is one of the latest examples of how the BeltLine continues to catalyze adaptive reuse of historic properties within it’s corridor. The 1920’s industrial warehouse at 99 Krog Street which once served as Tyler Perry’s studio reopens in Spring of 2014 as a west-coast style market and restaurants. 222 apartments are soon to follow on the Stoveworks property across the street and will have several hundred feet of Eastside Trail frontage. In 1889 Atlanta Stoveworks introduced … [Read more...]
